EVENT: ST MUNGO’S WOOLLY HAT DAY 2012

Calling all knitters to get their needles and yarn out for homeless people!

Homelessness charity St Mungo’s is asking knitters across the country to get their needles and yarn out to help create a mountain of bobble hats for its third annual Woolly Hat Day on Friday 26 October.

This year St Mungo’s is looking to auction the distinctive orange hats to raise money for its work supporting homeless people to rebuild their lives.

Working across London and the South, St Mungo’s has been opening doors for homeless people for more than 40 years. With over 100 projects supporting people with housing, health and work opportunities, St Mungo’s supports thousands of people each year to recover from being homeless and prevent the problems that can lead to homelessness.

Russell Benson, St Mungo’s community and events fundraising coordinator, said: “We’re appealing to knitters to help us

Laughing-Freds

make a big impact on this October’s Woolly Hat Day. As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, life becomes even more difficult for anyone sleeping on the streets. By getting your needles and yarn out and creating a ‘mountain’ of hats, you’ll be helping us to raise awareness and funds for our work supporting homeless and vulnerable people.”
