We love working with Craftiepixie, she makes a lot of our sample garments and is a wonderful 'editor' spotting things well before the knitting even commences. As a keen knitter, she loves to make most things but a favourite is a top down shawl.
This is a quick photo of her version of Ysolda Teague's Orchid Thief Shawl using our Austermann Step sock yarn in colour 139 Augergine. I just love the rich shades in this yarn and it will look amazing when finished. If you're thinking of a 4ply shawl, do try Orchid Thief, it's a beauftiful design and Ysolda's intructions are always very clearly written with lots of explanations and great pictures. Thanks to CraftiePixie for the use of the photo.
We have a limited quantity of Austermann Step Holiday Colour and Fortissima Flower Colour Yarns (scroll down the page to find the colours). These are all 100g balls, 75% wool, 25% nylon and are in various shades of self striping colours. The Flower Colour also gives a faux fair isle effect to the knitted piece and makes a simple sock look much more complicated than it is! Both these colour options are on offer at only £6.50 a ball, compared to their RRP of £9.50 a ball.
Here are the shades, sorry the colours aren't wonderful on here, they are might nicer in real life and I promise I'll try and do better pictures!
We've got some new Noro yarns in stock and I'm absolutely delighted with the Kogarashi which has arrived. We just chose a single shade to see how it went and the response at knitting groups around the area has been wonderful. The yarn is 100g in bulky or chunky weight. As with all noro, it has their signature variegation and an amazing texture.
Kogarashi is very soft, being a wool / silk blend it's gentle on the hands as you knit (or crochet) and I thought I'd try a simple texture pattern to see if it showcased the yarn the way I wanted it to. The cowl I'm working on is designed to use just one skein of the yarn making it an affordable way to try a luxury yarn and make yourself a one of a kind accessory at the same time.
See what you think?
First, let me admit I have never been a fan of fur, even faux fur felt scratchy and put me off. But, that was until I saw the Fur Collection from our new supplier Lanas Stop in Spain. Their Faux Fur yarn line is absolutely stunning! EAch of the yarns is so soft and lofty, beautiful natural shades and high fashion colours combine to add a WOW factor to our Autumn / Winter knitting. It's super easy to knit or crochet and we've got videos of how to use it and how best to brush up the fur to show off the various effects.
Check out the main yarns in our Lanas Stop section on the site, we're adding products daily and the first stocks will arrive in a few weeks! We can't wait!.
