Hi everyone, after some serious Christmas knitting to finish the prototype and write the pattern for the Eagle Pocket Scarf and Hat, I can finally tell you that it's published in Knit Now Magazine, Issue 7. The styling for the photographs looks fantastic, you can see enough detail of the pattern itself for both the hat and scarf and yet see that it's a fun and cosy classic for cool weather wear.
The scarf itself took a few evenings to knit up and was as super easy to make. It features a neat icord edging on both sides, this helps prevent curling once it's blocked), deep pockets with a duplicate stitch (Swiss darning) motif on each pocket and finally a hidden pocket just under the neck to hold your iphone, keys, travel card or even a small purse. The deep pockets are great for dog walkers or Mums with small children who have to carry a bottle, snacks, water, nappy etc even for the briefest of outings. This practical item is a real investment piece. Recomended yarns include Lion Brand Alpine Wool and Filzi by Schoeller and Stahl (stock arriving next week). I'll be adding a page to show the various kit prices (with special offers for Knit Now readers).
The hat was finished in an evening, you could knit this plain, in the barley colour with the embroidery/darning or even in stripes to use up the contrast colours left over from your scarf. The hat took two balls of barley and used small amounts of the oatmeal, chilli and bay leaf from the scarf.
